When You Could Be Owed Compensation

Your landlord is legally required to protect your deposit in one of the three government-approved Tenancy Deposit Schemes within 30 days and give you the correct paperwork (known as the Prescribed Information).

You are entitled to a Tenancy Deposit Claim for compensation if your landlord has failed to comply with the deposit protection rules.

Why Many Tenants Don’t Realise They Can Claim

Most tenants assume that if they got their deposit back, the landlord “must have followed the rules”. But that’s not true.

You still may be entitled to compensation if:

      • the deposit was returned late
      • the deposit was protected late
      • the deposit was never protected
      • you never received Prescribed Information
      • you had multiple tenancy periods
      • your landlord self-protected or used the wrong scheme

Our solicitors can check this for free. All you need is your tenancy agreement and deposit details.
